Dewormed five ponies
Two lovely girls surrendered to the Unit. Collected and admitted, very sweet mares. Available for adoption, however experienced equestrian required as needs backing.
Our three mangy boys are coming on nicely, bar Ringo , who’s immune system in compromised by a large growth/sarcoid on his hind. Booked to be gelded and removal of growth soon.
We delivered dear Tilly to her new home! Go well darling, Really hope this works out for you..

We were ecstatic to find a home for dear old Gladys. We delivered her to her new herd and Family who welcomed her with open arms. She is however apparently in charge of the herd now ;) Thank you so much Marnell!

The fires have been RELENTLESS around GQ this month. Every day, burning literally all sides of the Unit/Welfare. Side Note: Please remove any alien vegetation on your land, the indigenous bush does not burn and actually protects your property whereas the alien vegetation burns ferociously.. This drought is proper! No grazing in many places so please ensure you buy in enough extra fodder for your animals.
The family at AWS and ECHCU suffered a tragic loss of a beautiful human. Unathi, we have no words.. You have been there as long as we all have and have always made an effort, every day, every time I see you, to share a friendly smile and kind words. Your love for the animals and fellow beings will never be forgotten. We have planted a tree in your honour as you will always be a part of us and the Welfare. Rest In Peace Love X Till we meet again..

Another two ponies surrendered, collected and luckily took them straight to a new foster home. We are currently pretty full, with young non rideable ponies.. So if anyone is looking for a small companion, please enquire for more details.
We collected our dear old Sarel from his new home. He is an old escape artist, and decided to continue his shenanigans. Back to the Unit initially but luckily had a new home available with Fort Knox fencing a few days later.
We were spoilt with brand new uniforms from the generous JONSSONS workwear department. Thank you Tracy from Coastal Horse Care Unit for organising for us and of course to JONSSONS! Feeling blessed and looking smart ;)

A complaint received of two older horses, looking old and not great. The time had come for one of them and we sent him to God shortly after. Rest peacefully now boy X
Complaint received re an owner in a small village allowing his horses to roam free and graze in the village unattended. Everyone is aware of who the owner is and seeing the animals are in acceptable condition we cannot just collect. If this happens in your town, keep an eye and let us know if they are injured or underweight, but unfortunately we do not have the space to just collect if no urgency.
We finally got our brand new refurbished horsebox back to the Unit. Thank you to Cheetah Express for delivering her back to us safely. She is magnificent!
Our little Lexi, the donkey, discovered how to open the main gate and took all the kids for a gallivant around the property.. All back safely, thankfully and gate reinforced.
Another civil matter between yard owner and livery client. Please guys ensure you SIGN A CONTRACT when you take your horse to a yard. It saves you and your horses a whole lot of unnecessary stress.
Unfortunately Moses will be using his donkey cart again. Please advise if you see them wondering or have any concern. One of his donkeys has already turned up twice at our gate in the interim.
The Amazing Dorrie Sham has confirmed she will be organising a race day again for us this year. So please keep an eye for details. Booked provisionally for 20 March 2026. Thank You Dorrie X

A call for help after one of our adopted horses got a nasty cut on his pastern. Unfortunately could not be stitched due to its location. But meds a treatment plan supplied by vet.
One of our residents at the Unit started walking very strangely, yet eating, drinking and vitals fine. Vet was called out took blood tests that revealed Theileria equi parasites.. Vet confirmed they can present in a wide range of symptoms, not your usual off colour or off food. Meds administered and thankfully back on track a day or two later.
A Tb surrendered from King Williams Town. After collecting a proper assessment will be made as an old injury looks to be problematic.
An owner asking for assistance with a colicking pony. Unfortunately we are not vets and if you do not pay your vet bills they are not going to assist. Colic is a serious condition and can be fatal. Luckily a vet was able to assist this time..
Six donkey hooves trimmed.
One of our adopted out Tbs had to unfortunately be PTS after discovering she had kissing spine. Rest In Peace beautiful Girl. We will always remember you.
A request for confirmation on making the decision on a sickly older mare who has been struggling for a few months now. Yes it is time and thank you for doing the right thing for her T.
A test ride for our one and only rideable pony. Went well enough with the understanding of the necessary healing that needs to take place first. As well as the needed effort and consistency on their part. Hoping to deliver her to this caring home soon.
