It was lovely to start the year off with a 150 bale donation delivered directly to us from our kind MMM family. A phone call from a concerned owner about her lame donkey. After a visit and advice, all sorted . Please note guys if you adopt a donkey from us try to keep them hands on and halter them regularly. They need to get used to the farrier and being handled in case of medical issues etc. It just takes a little consistency in the beginning, to make life a lot easier for all in the end. They are very clever and learn very quickly.
Two separate concerned complaints of an old pony looking a little worse for wear. After visiting and discussing with owner, they were advised on better care which they were more than willing to adhere to. Great when owners really take full responsibility for their elderly four-leggeds.
Still in delicate negotiation over two elderly ponies who’s time is coming to an end. Never easy to say goodbye, we do understand how difficult it can be.
Our burn Victim, Bobby, is healing nicely and very happy with life and spoils at the moment. Still available for compensatory treats however ;)
Another very welcome donation of the Late Jeans Estate, who divided her inheritance between different animal welfare organisations. Thank you kindly ma’am and Rest In Peace.
A troublesome breeder/yard has moved premises, hopefully for the better but time will tell.
One of our adopted out Tbs had a nasty cut which was sorted with guidance and diligence on the owners behalf, well done Justy! Please note we cannot always come running, we have to prioritise the use of our resources wisely where we can and to care for you own animal hands on is a very rewarding task , provided you have knowledgeable guidance at hand.
There was another confirmed case of Rabies in the Kragga Kama area (Dog) so please remember to keep vaccinating all you mammals against this terrible disease as it is not finished with us yet!
Our gorgeous little babies Billie and Beauty have gone to a wonderful home with their mothers. We couldn’t be happier to adopt them out all together. We will be sharing more footage of these cuties once everything is finalised in Feb. We get regular updates which eases our hearts from not seeing them daily.
We then had a very scary case of what was thought to be AHS, (‘dikkop’ stain) but after tests came back negative it was assumed to be some sort of virus. All 13 horses survived and are recovering well now thankfully.
Moses, one of our walmer donkey cart owners, asked us to come and collect his older donkey who seems to be ready for retirement. Both our walmer owners are actually responsible caring owners, who are in weekly communication with us re their donks. It’s actually a pleasure compaired to some of P. E. s surrounding areas. Substance abuse has unfortunatel made life very difficult for a lot of sad donkeys out there, luckily we do get to rescue some and give them the loving homes they deserve.
Our gorgeous little Poppy, the orphan, now known as Hendriek, who was found suckling off his dead mom was happily rehomed with two of our older girls who are proving to be great aunties. Thank you Sonja he fits perfectly into your family.
Another inland complaint of a stray horse wondering in the town needing some assistance. Unfortunately it is more than 4 hours away and logistics prove difficult unless the horse is contained.
Our happily gelded Chester, was adopted to be a companion to a mare and some little kids.He has found his bum in the butter, especially from where he came from . Go well Chester boy darling!

A complaint of Moses’ donkeys lose with tethers still attached - sorted.
All our residents were dewormed and vaccinated against Rabies again. Thanks to Carli and Nicole for sorting out the deworming.
Two more double de-wormers done on donkeys heavily infested with worms. The problem is if you keep you horses or donkeys with lots of other livestock like sheep , goats, cattle , geese etc. the likelihood of parasites becomes more volatile and a stricter more regular deworming schedule is necessary.

Then our precious little Northy, with a spunky nature of note , utterly irresistible to be honest ;) was delivered to her ‘boarding school’ to learn some life lessons and be backed. She is in safe good hands and is coming along nicely and may even stay depending on her progress. This little madam is 4 years old now and no push over so the time is now before she gets too bolshie ;)
A complaint received of a 6 month old foal being tied up with no mother turned out to be a slightly different matter on inspection. Not a young foal, closer to a year old and a miniature, who is now halter trained and living a very happy life with his friends on the farm . Owners happy to be guided as this is their first equine. Dewormed on site and advised on best diet / training going forward . Once again owners happy to accept advice to care the best way possible for him.
Our Gorgeous Bumble has been gelded and almost ready for his new home to another young male who lost his mate. Yay!
We assisted with the loading of one of our more difficult mares, who is finally going to her forever farm after being at a yard first. This girl has had a difficult life and clearly does not like to be ridden. This adopter after realising the stress she was going through while trying to ride decided to do such an amazing thing and just let her be a horse on her farm instead. She has three other equine companions and made friends already. She is not wild just doesn’t want to be ridden. Thank you Jenny for not just sending her back or giving up on her but just understanding and accepting that riding is just something she will never be comfortable with but now she can be a part of the family none the less. An admirable choice, Thank you Jenny.
Another Gelding done and dusted for the lonely Silver, who has lost his companions and cannot find a suitable home unless gelded. Soon to be up for adoption. A very handsome specimen of a donkey indeed and as tame as. So if you’re interested give us a call.

After transporting one of our adopted out Tbs from one yard to another, more suitable yard it was discovered that the residence had one of our previously adopted out donkeys, who had been sitting alone for almost 6 weeks. Please if your life suddenly changes and all is turned upside down don’t forget about them, they feel loss just like you. Anyway all ended well as he has a very pretty filly as a companion now as well as and older gentleman who was surrendered to us but luckily went straight to the new home as he is a calm bombproof soul who will give the adopter peace of mind when talking her boyfriend on rides ;) Happy ending for all!
Assistance given to a worried donkey owner up the coast who’s entire Jack was getting himself into trouble after consistently trying his luck with the two Jennies. First things first GELD!! It’s so much kinder in long run to geld , please do the right thing , as irritating as stallions can be, it’s not their fault.
Unfortunately another complaint of a well known trail riding yard. Please remember it is your duty as the public to report any abuse or suspect issues when it comes to animals being used for the public or commercial use. We cannot be everywhere all the time and rely on your information re these matters. The accused has been warned and given instructions on what to do going forward. They will be closely monitored until we are satisfied with results. Please also collect as much information on the individuals concerned as possible ie Video footage and names, dates, times etc. This makes the process move a lot quicker and directly toward the culprits concerned. As to all of you using horses or donkeys to provide an income, be sure you have an up to date PAPA permit and that you consistently put your ANIMALS FIRST (Quality) and NOT the MONEY(quantity)!!!
Oh yes and this heat! Please ensure your animals are well watered and have adequate shelter from the sun as it has really been unbearable.
